Atlantic Sinfonia is performing August 7, 2025 in Officers’ Square starting at 7pm for all to enjoy. We are based in Fredericton and are one of the few professional chamber orchestras in Atlantic Canada.
Operating since 2005, Sinfonia’s string orchestra and a wind octet have performed across the Maritimes. Members are amongst the best classical musicians in Fredericton and the region, and Sinfonia has been an incubator for emerging musicians who have gone on to music studies and professional careers.
Atlantic Sinfonia Winds presents music for wind sextet – 2 clarinets, 2 French horns and 2 bassoons from both well-known classical music composers and more obscure ones. The great Beethoven is represented by his Sextet Op.71 which displays his melodic invention and his light-hearted side. W.A. Mozart’s ability to create timeless melodies is evident in three arias from the opera ‘Magic Flute’ arranged by the bassoonist, Stumpf. And finally, a fresh and vibrant and sometimes flashy romp through the Bohemian countryside by the composer Druschetsky, a prolific writer of music for winds and an oboist himself.
Atlantic Sinfonia and Fredericton Symphony Orchestra present a concert to celebrate the coming of spring. String orchestra favourites will be presented by each group from well-known classical composers as well as Fredericton’s own Janis Kalnins.
Registration through Eventbrite is necessary to attend.
